That is of course with one major exception, i.e. my can't-live-without cat-eye liner look! In fact, I am so addicted to it, I don't think I have ever left the house without it within the past few years. Seriously, even when I am sporting a pair of sunnies, it is always there with me:) Perhaps because I wear it so often, I get a lot of questions about the techniques I use to apply my eye liner. </i><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><i>Though, applying an eye liner may seem like an intimidating task at first, it is actually very easy to do. The first and most important thing is the product you use, because naturally, not all eye liners are created equal. Since, I've been using eye liner pretty much every day for the past few years, I got to try quite a few different ones. Few of them I liked, others I just couldn't deal with, but I certainly didn't find my favorite until I got the opportunity to test <b><a href="http://bit.ly/RHBxPu" target="_blank">Benefit Cosmetics they're real push-up liner</a></b>. </i><br /><i><br /></i><i>Day vs Night:</i><br /><i><br /></i><i>Though some people recommend applying eye liner by drawing a series of dots and then connecting them, I prefer to draw an even line across the lash line and once I reach the outer corner, angle the tip and draw another line towards the brow, creating a winged out look. Next, depending on the intensity I am looking for, I fill in and thicken the liner a bit. For day, I usually go for a more natural look, so I tend to apply the liner closer to the lash line and extend the corners very slightly for just a hint of the cat eye look. But for night, I definitely favor the more dramatic look, so I thicken the line above the lashes and extend the line way beyond the natural outer corner. </i><br /><i><br /></i><i>What I like about Benefit they're real push-up liner:</i><br /><i><br /></i><i>Normally, it takes a few coats to achieve the intense black I am looking for, but with Benefit, I was able to achieve the desired color with just one coat. Another pet peeve of mine, is trying to get the liner as close to the lash line as possible. Usually, I have to go back a few times to fill out the little gaps, but I did not experience this problem with Benefit. The liner glided perfectly right over the base of my lashes leaving no visible gaps. Finally, when it comes to eye liner, longevity is important to me. I absolutely hate having to worry about smudges or fading color. Once again, Benefit liner lasted all day and the color looked just as intense as it did in the morning. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! </i><i>Since so many of you asked me about my beauty routine, I wanted to take this opportunity to talk to you about a few tricks and techniques I use when applying eye make up. </i><i>Before we get into eye make up application specifics, the first thing we should consider is the shape of the eye. Our eye shapes are unique, applying eye make up based on our eye shapes helps to enhance the natural beauty of our particular eye shape and of course ensure the best results! If you are not sure what your eye shape is, Smashbox created a wonderful <b><a href="http://www.smashboxfullexposure.com/quizzes/1" target="_blank">video</a></b> to help you figure it out. </i></div><div><br /><a name="more"></a></div><div><i>To achieve today's look, I used Smashbox Full Exposure palette. What I like about this particular product, is the fact that it contains 14 universally flattering shades, perfect for creating anything from a simple daytime to dramatic nighttime looks. I found that the colors are highly pigmented, long-wearing, easily blendable and feel great on. The double-ended brush included with the palette, is my other personal favorite! The fluffy side is absolutely perfect for blending matte shades, and the flat side is great for laying down shimmer shades. Finally, the palette comes with an eye shape get-the-look insert, which not only helps to identify your eye shape but also gives detailed instructions, tips and tricks how to enhance the particular shape of your eyes. The palette includes 3 different looks (day, night and defined) for each of the main 6 eye shapes. For today's post I chose to create a night look, designed to elongate and maximize the shape of the round eyes. </i><br /><br /><i>To create today's look, I started by applying a midtone slate with silver pearl all over the eye lid, using the flat side of the double-ended brush, designed specifically for application of the shimmer shades</i><i>. </i><i>The best way to apply shimmer shades, is to press down rather than sweep the shades across the lid. </i><br /><div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light'; font-size: 12px;"><br /></div></div><div><i>Next, I applied ashy dark brown along the eye crease using the fluffy side of the double-ended brush. I find that defining the crease adds depth to the overall look and also helps to emphasize the shape of the eye. Unlike shimmer shades, the best way to apply a matte shade is to sweep the color using a back and forth motion, almost like a windshield wiper:) </i><br /><br /><i>Next, I applied suede black along the top of the lash line as an eye liner, extending beyond the natural outer corner to elongate the eye and to create my beloved cat-eye look. </i><br /><i><br /></i><i>Finally, I dabbed a little bit of soft gold with gold and silver pearl into the inner corner of my eyes. This trick helps to brighten the face in general and to widen the eyes. Next, I applied the same shade right on top of the cheekbones to illuminate the face and give more definition to the cheeks.  I completed this look with t</i><i>wo coats of Full Exposure Mascara and voila! Today was also the perfect occasion to wear my new </span><b><a href="http://bit.ly/1ck4V5M" target="_blank">Guess Girl Belle</a></b><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif;"> fragrance, which I am completely in love with! </span></i><br /><a name="more"></a><i style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', 'Segoe UI', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif;">The fact that it matches my dress perfectly, is just a happy coincidence:) Aside from my weakness for pretty perfume bottles and the color purple, I think what I love most about this particular fragrance is the fun, adventurous and flirtatious scent! What can I say, pink champagne, golden delicious apples, mixed berries, pink peonies, jasmine and violet, combined together, create absolute Magic! Perfect for day or night, it's definitely my favorite at the moment, so check it out when you have the chance. I completed this look with a fairly simple make up, adding just a bit of highlighting powder to my cheekbones and brow bones and a shimmery eye shadow. I also went for a super simple, fuss-free hairstyle, by creating very loose waves with a large-barrel curling iron! And voila! I know I certainly do. But thanks to Mother Nature, I am stuck with very fine, poker-straight, not -even-remotely-as-long-as-I-would-like-them-to-be eyelashes. Normally, I resort to to eyelash curlers (otherwise known as medieval torture devices) and two to three coats of mascara, a practice which, of course, results in lots of clumps and flakes. So, when L'Oreal Paris approached me to try the new Voluminous Butterfly mascara, I was quite eager to see what it can do for my barely-there fringe!</i></div><a name="more"></a><i style="text-align: justify;"> The first thing I noticed about the Voluminous Butterfly mascara, was the asymmetrical brush with its </i><i style="text-align: justify;">tightly packed, flexible bristles which helped </i><i style="text-align: justify;">to lift and extend lashes outward. After applying just one coat, I immediately noticed a difference in the way my eye lashes looked. They were definitely fuller, longer, completely clump-free, and beautifully winged-out, especially on the outer corners - something I could only dream of before. And the effect lasts all day, without any flakes or smudges! Finally, since my eyes are a bit sensitive, they often react quite badly to certain mascara formulas (think red, watery eyes... not pretty at all). I didn't experience any such effects with the Voluminous </i><i style="text-align: justify;">Butterfly </i><i style="text-align: justify;">Mascara. I like to choose colors that are soft and natural. I swear, I tried red lipstick so many times, but it just looks wrong on me:) Normally, I skip foundation all together and simply go for a bit of bronzer or blush. The Burberry Beauty blush, </i><i>I'm wearing in this post, gives the softest, pretties glow without being too obvious. Just make sure you blend well, and build intensity gradually.  </i><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><i>I don't like to wear lip pencils but always apply lip balm under my lipstick and use my finger instead of a brush to apply lip color. I find, this way the product goes on sheer and looks much more natural. </i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i>I do spent a bit more time on my eyes, I'm sure you noticed I am completely addicted to my eye liner! But even so, I like a more understated approach. For a very soft smoky eye look, I like to apply Burberry Beauty sheer eyeshadow all over the upper lid and line the top and bottom of my eye lashes with eye shaping pencil in a very pretty shade of greenish-brown, extending the eyeliner just beyond the outer corners of my eyes to achieve a cat-eye look. And voila! A big change from my usual minimal approach, I think smoky eye look adds drama and helps to transition your make up from day to night. A big fan of the classic black or dark brown smoky eyes, sometimes I like to have a bit more fun and recreate this look using bright colors. Since, lavender happens to be my favorite color at the moment, lavender smoky eye look was an obvious choice. Now, even though it’s such a bright hue, it actually works great for any eye color. For me the key to a bright eye make up is blending, playing with lighter and darker shades and keeping the rest of the face neutral. Let the eyes be the focal point of your face. </i></div><div id="yui_3_7_2_22_1355434649072_64" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div id="yui_3_7_2_22_1355434649072_64" style="text-align: justify;"><i><o:p></o:p></i></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><i>To achieve this look I applied bright medium blue purple shade all over my upper eye lid, adding just a bit of light pink purple closer to the corner of the eye. Next, I applied matte deep gray to the crease to add dimension and dept. Finally, I applied deep purple shade along upper lash line and crease extending slightly beyond the outer corner to visually elongate the eye. I finished the look with 2 coats of volumizing mascara and  dark navy eyeliner for my beloved cat eye look. <o:p></o:p></i></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><i>To balance the bright eyes, I kept then rest of look fairly neutral. Adding just a bit of bronzing powder to my cheeks and bridge of the nose and a coat of pink/ coral lipstick. </i><br /><i><br /></i><i>P.S. I tried a lot of bronzing powders before and for me the best ones are matte. I find that matte bronzers look a lot more natural. This particular one from Chanel in Brume D'or is my current obsession, because it provides really natural color, with just a hint of sparkle. I also love this shimmering powder from Christian Dior. Usually, I mix all shades together with a big brush and apply it on the apples of my cheeks, then use the lightest shade to highlight brow bones and corners of the eyes. This combination really helps to brighten the face without looking like you have a ton of product on.  </i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="color: cyan; font-size: large;">EYES:</span> I hardly ever wear eye shadow, especially during the day. Most of the time I line the upper eyelid with black eye liner, mostly because my eyes are pretty round so the liner helps to elongate the shape. Right now, I'm a pretty big fan of this Christian Dior one. Stays on all day and doesn't smudge, what else can I ask for:)?</i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="color: cyan; font-size: large;">Lips:</span> I've heard a million times that there is a right shade of red for everyone out there. But up until recently I haven't been able to find the right one for me. No matter what I tried it just looked weird, either too dark, or way to bright, basically it just didn't feel like me. By chance, I tried this lip stain by YSL and was pretty impressed with the result, great color, stays on and has a hint of gloss. My day-time favorite at the moment is YSL lipstick in Spicy Pink, really natural, soft-looking shade that has a great staying power. </i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>I suppose the word "natural" keeps coming up whenever I talk about make up. I really am a big believer in beauty products doing what their are supposed to without looking too obvious.
